I found this on a message board... and thought I'd post it. AFI has the most brilliant, cultured lyrics. Enjoy.
Preternatural (...But Home Is Nowhere) - Above the order of human nature. The angels, both holy and fallen, have preternatural powers. Their intellect, speed, etc., are far greater than the corresponding human powers, but they are finite.
Amaranth (The Great Disappointment) - A grain used in vegetarian dishes. Amaranth was a staple in the diets of pre-Columbian Aztecs, who believed it had supernatural powers and incorporated it into their religious ceremonies. Before the Spanish conquest in 1519, amaranth was associated with human sacrifice and the Aztec women made a mixture of ground amaranth seed, honey or human blood then shaped this mixture into idols that were eaten ceremoniously.
Imbrued (Girl's Not Grey) - Well it's hard to describe. I think it's the way in which metal has been made into weapons, shields etc. - eg. Imbrued platemail
Synesthesia - meaning "joined sensation" where the real information of one sense is accompanied by a perception in another sense. An example is if you hear a certain sound, a certain colour may suddenly pop into your mind that you relate to that sound.

Anathema (Paper Airplanes) - the lifting up of something separate. In the Old Testament this expression was used both in relation to that which was alienated due to sinfulness and likewise to that which was dedicated to God.
The Nephilim - An early version of the bibical myth of Satan's fall from grace, the Nephilim were angels sent to watch over humanity by God, but disobeyed, instead teaching mortal men forbidden knowledge and mating with mortal woman. As a punishment they were cast into eternal darkness, their leader - according to myth becoming Satin himself.
Porphyria Cutanae Tarda - Porphria is a rare group of diseases, the name derived from the Greek for purple, as one symptom is a dark red or even purple urine. Other symptoms include - mental confusion, receding gums giving the appearance of extended teeth, and acute sensitivity to the sun. This has led to some believing that cases of Porphyria led to the vampire myth.
Malleus Maleficarum - roughly translated as ' hammer of witches ' it is the earliest and most important of the witch hunting manuals. Written in the 1480s it gives details of locating, interrogating and disposing of servants of Satan. It lead to the torture and execution of thousands, perhaps millions of innocents accused of witchcraft.

At first, I kind of thought it was cool that they were ditching invite codes... but alas I have changed my mind. Sure, I seized this name for undisclosed reasons, but in doing so I am taking part in exactly what I hoped wasn't going to happen. Without invite codes, this site is going to die. Anyone can sign up for just about as many journals as they please. That's just more or less no good.
Anyway, I haven't decided the purpose of this particular journal as of yet, but I'm sure I can figure something out. Maybe I could make my own AFI community. Or maybe this could just be for totally random thoughts and ideas that don't fit in with my regular journal. Oh, the possibilities. *rolls eyes*
I guess I don't really need a paid account anymore. All I want is the extra userpics. Big deal, I guess.
